A couple of months ago, our board made the decision to donate the money that we had raised on to another organization. Given our slow start during a pandemic, we felt that was the best way to get the money that we had raised to animals and seniors in need of help by putting it in the hands of a reputable and trustworthy charity with almost identical goals: Pets for the Elderly. Despite their stellar reputation, passing that money on in some ways felt like we were throwing it into the ether, possibly never to see the good that we knew must come of it.
This afternoon, I was very pleased to receive a message from the Executive Director of Pets for the Elderly, with an update on how the money that we – with your immense generosity – were able to raise and pass on to animals and seniors in need:
Thank you once again for the generous donation of $3,615.00 to Pets for the Elderly on May 26, 2022. I thought you might like to know of the impact you had with your generous gift. All funding was utilized in one shelter, the Anti-Cruelty Society of Chicago, during the first half of 2022. The Anti-Cruelty Society uses the retention aspect of our program. They were able to help the owners of 14 dogs and 16 cats retain their pets with the funding provided. That’s 30 animal lives saved and 30 or more senior citizen lives enhanced because of your gift. That’s a huge impact – thank you.
– Susan Kurowski, Executive Director of Pets for the Elderly
To those who have donated in the past, and those who may choose to donate going forward, thank you for your contribution to helping make the lives of 30 animals and 30 seniors happier and healthier.
